SNHU/GSLA LICENSURE PROGRAM ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This program supports an individual’s pursuit of being issued a Superintendent license through the New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED). Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is granting you a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) at the successful completion of your program, not a license. Upon successful completion of the program, SNHU provides a recommendation to the NHED for you to be issued the license you are pursuing through your programming. After being recommended to the NHED, candidates are responsible for uploading required documentation and paying fees to be issued licensure.
Licensure is awarded by the NHED. Therefore, because states have sole authority for granting licenses and determining the administrative rules for each license, candidates are responsible for checking licensure requirements with the NHED prior to enrollment, as well as periodically throughout their program. These requirements can be found in the NHED website and Help Desk portal.
SNHU’s Graduate Education Programs team and the Office of Educator Preparation make every effort to remain informed of current NHED licensure requirements and relay this information to our students. Occasionally, state licensure requirements change unexpectedly and you may be required to meet additional requirements.
We ask that you check the boxes below to acknowledge that you read the information above and have at least three years of experience as an education administrator in a public PK-12 setting.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING
During the 2020-2021 legislative session, SB 134 was passed, which creates a new section, RSA 189:13-c, which authorizes the Department of Education to conduct a criminal history records check. The Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) conducted by the Department of Education will be strictly limited to the offenses which are listed in paragraph V of RSA 189:13-a—commonly referred to as the “Section V violations.” As of 1/11/2023, all Professional Educator Preparation Program (PEPP) candidates must complete a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and fingerprinting for the New Hampshire Department of Education.
All questions about this part of the process (including fingerprinting) should be referred to NHDOS - Division of State Police - Criminal Records.
